Our humble beginnings
EDIT (Education for Innovative Thinkers) summer school started in 1996 as a small project organized by Comtrade (former Hermes Softlab). The first year, EDIT was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia and attracted 10 participants.
What started off as an idea to provide programming training for students during summer months grew into a recognized and highly anticipated annual event that attracts hundreds of students throughout the region.
Expanding fast and far
Today, EDIT summer school is organized region-wide in seven cities in Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ireland and attracts the brightest and most talented students from technology high schools and universities.
Every July, the school opens its doors to 100 participants. The goal of EDIT is to provide young software developers and future IT professionals with the opportunity to develop their skills through actual, hands-on work and prepare them for careers in IT.
Share IT knowledge
During a two-week intensive program, students work on real-world projects under the supervision of experienced mentors. Every year, EDIT offers new topics and projects for students to work on based on the current trends in information technology.
The program combines lectures with hands-on learning, while enabling students to lead projects, experience the dynamics of teamwork, learn from each other and their superiors and develop and upgrade their programming skills.
Building tomorrow’s IT leaders
Twenty years since it was first organized, EDIT has become the leading IT summer school in the region and a stepping stone to success for many young IT professionals. Around 50% of the most exceptional students who complete the program are recruited for full-time employment with Comtrade.
Since the school first opened, more than 1,000 students have attended the summer program. We look forward to providing free IT education to many more young technology enthusiasts!
